Vestas has received the third order for V112-3.0 MW wind turbines from TuuliWatti Oy within less than a year. This time for delivery of 10 units for the Tervola project.
The new order has a total capacity of 30 MW and the turbines will be installed in the municipality of Tervola in the province of Lapland, Finland. Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to begin in September 2012 and be completed by March 2013.
The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines and a six-year full-scope active output management 4000 agreement with an option for an additional six years.
“This order is a proof of the continuous expansion of wind power in Finland and provides benefits for local Finnish economies and local Finnish suppliers. It also shows the trust Vestas has received from TuuliWatti Oy for yet another V112 project, giving us a leading position in the Finnish market for renewable energy,” says Klaus Steen Mortensen, President of Vestas Northern Europe.
Finlandhas recently taken steps to enhance the development of renewable energy. A feed-in tariff system for renewable energy was launched earlier this year, and Finland has a renewable energy target to produce 6 TWh from wind power by 2020. This requires a capacity of approx 2,500 MW.
“TuuliWatti Oy has once again proved that they are a frontrunner in developing wind power in Finland. We are incredibly pleased with our partnership with TuuliWatti Oy and their trust means a lot to us. We look forward to a continued close cooperation on the coming project. The Vestas V112-3.0 MW turbines have been the preferred choice since they are an excellent match with the Finnish wind regimes,” says Krister Poole Jönsson, Vice President Sales of Vestas Northern Europe.
“The Tervola wind power plant will be located 50 kilometres away from the sea side. The advanced turbine technology developed by Vestas enables us to build genuine inland wind power plants in Finland. Together with wind power plants under construction in the municipalities of Simo and Ii-Olhava, this new project means an increase of 1/3 to the current wind power capacity in our country”, says Jari Suominen, Managing Director of TuuliWatti Oy.
