Gamesa has reinforced its US organizational structure, having hired David Flitterman to preside its North American business.

This executive will cement Gamesa's business activities in the various US states - which range from turbine manufacture and supply to O&M services and the development and sale of wind farms - and the company's growth within this market's sphere of influence, by supplying turbines to other North and Central American countries.

David Flitterman, a graduate with a BA and MBA in Engineering and Economics from Oxford University (UK), has built his career in finance and investment banking, having held senior management positions at several firms including Bankers Trust Company (Managing Director), part of the Deutsche Bank Group, in Spain, the UK, Brazil and the US.

"David brings extraordinary knowledge of the business, finance and institutional keys to the US market, all of which are crucial to continuing to tackle the challenges posed by the US wind power market", said Jorge Calvet, Chairman and CEO of Gamesa.

North America, a strategic market

Gamesa's manufacturing presence in the US dates back to 2005. Today, Gamesa has two factories in Pennsylvania and one offshore technology centre in the US where it employs 900 people. It is also very active in the wind farm development and sale segment.

This market currently represents 14% of Gamesa's global wind turbine sales volumes (MW).

Gamesa was the recipient of the U.S. Export-Import Bank's ‘Renewables Energy Exporter of the Year' award in 2011.
