SolarCity and PSW Real Estate Offer Solar Systems as a Standard Feature on All New Homes in Dallas-Fort Worth

PSW Real Estate, a Texas homebuilder, will offer solar power as a standard feature on every home in its new Bishop Heights and 1600 Kings Highway communities in Dallas-Fort Worth through a partnership with SolarCity. PSW is partnering with SolarCity, America’s full-service solar power provider, to assist new PSW homeowners to potentially reduce their utility bills by hundreds of dollars per year, and lock in their solar electricity costs for decades into the future. This is the first time that a home builder in the Dallas-Fort Worth area has made solar standard on all new homes with SolarCity.

“At PSW, environmentally conscious elements are not add-ons to our designs, but intrinsic characteristics,” said Adam Stetson, PSW’s Dallas-Fort Worth Area President. “With such an abundance of sunshine here in Texas, and homeowners who increasingly care about sustainability as well as household savings, standardizing solar only makes sense.”

Every new PSW home will come equipped with a 3 kilowatt solar array, which is expected to cut the home’s carbon-dioxide (CO2) emissions by more than half over the life of the system.* The PSW home buyer’s cost for solar electricity is pre-paid by the builder with no additional monthly costs, and SolarCity provides free solar installation, insurance, monitoring service and repairs.

“More and more U.S. homebuilders are offering solar as a standard amenity and we’re gratified to help PSW lead the way in Texas,” said Walter Cuculic, SolarCity’s national manager of Builder Programs. “SolarCity and PSW make it exceptionally easy to go solar while providing their customers with the chance to save on energy costs by going green.”

Both of PSW’s Bishop Heights and 1600 Kings Highway communities are within walking or easy biking distance of the area’s Bishop Arts District, downtown, parks and nature centers. Standard environmentally-friendly features in the new PSW homes also include advanced spray foam insulation systems, tankless hot water heaters, compact fluorescent lighting packages, low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint which contributes to healthy indoor air quality, high efficiency HVAC systems with digital programmable thermostats, dual pane low E vinyl windows, Nexia home intelligence systems, and Energy Star appliances.
