Taiwan PV cell manufacturer Motech’s fab in Southern Taiwan Science Park, Tainan was on fire at night on November 5th (TST). The flame was declared under control by around eleven twenty and there was no casualty. However, Motech’s cell production will be suspended for days until the fab is completely cleaned up.

The flamed facility is Motech’s fifth PV cell manufacturing fab. The fire was caught on the third floor of the fab, burning out one spare manufacturing machine.

Motech will hold emergency meetings to evaluate the actual loss while the company estimates only a few of its properties were damaged. Nonetheless, the fab has to be cleaned up for days because of dust and water. The cell production in the fab will therefore be suspended for a while so that Motech’s shipment might also be blocked.

In the recent, Motech has been manufacturing under full capacity due to strong market demand and continuous PV cell orders.
