According to EV volumes, the sales of electric vehicles (including pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) soared in Europe in the first half of the year, with historical cumulative sales in June officially breaking through the million mark.
In the first half of 2018, European electric vehicle sales increased by at least 5,000 units a month, with cumulative sales of 195,000 vehicles, up 42% from last year, with pure electric vehicles accounting for 51% and the remainder being hybrid electric vehicles. EV volumes estimates that 430,000 electric cars will be sold in Europe in 2018, compared with 1.35 million worldwide.
Norway is currently the country with the highest sales of electric cars in Europe, followed closely behind by Germany. EV volumes expects German electric car sales to overtake Norway by the end of this year.
Chinese electric car sales exceeded 1 million earlier, almost a year faster than Europe, and demand continued to grow. The end of 2018 is expected to surpass 2 million units.
