According to Wechat Official Account @PVTechCN, on May 12, 2025, Red Sun New Energy and a Nigerian group formally signed an agreement on the construction of the entire 600MW PV module plant in Kano State, which is the first localized PV module production line in Nigeria, and an important practice of Chinese enterprises to promote the energy transformation in Africa with technology output.
Since the 1980s, the Nigerian family of the group has been committed to the development of local industrialization, from textile industry to cement manufacturing, and has always been closely connected with the pulse of the national economy. In the face of Nigeria's power coverage of only 30% and the reality of a large number of people without electricity, the family chose to cooperate with Red Sun New Energy to promote the popularization of clean energy by taking the localization of the PV industry chain as a breakthrough.
Through whole-line technology output, equipment supply and scenario-based power plant development, Red Sun New Energy helps Nigeria to build the whole chain capability from module production to power application, providing a replicable cooperation paradigm for Africa's industrialization process.
According to Nigeria's Rural Electrification Agency (REA), more than 6,000 rural communities in the country are not yet electrified, and the cost of electricity for businesses remains high. After the module factory of Red Sun New Energy is put into operation, the annual production capacity is expected to reach 600 MW, which can provide basic protection for remote areas, industrial parks and medical institutions to promote the construction of distributed power plants, effectively reduce the energy expenditure of local enterprises, and at the same time, reduce millions of tons of carbon emissions, so that the clean energy can effectively improve the lives of the people.
Red Sun New Energy's practice in Nigeria embodies the globalization concept of Chinese enterprises, which is “to share the technology from a single production line to make a win-win situation”. Export to the production line construction and operation and maintenance training, to help Africa cultivate new energy industry talents; relying on the family's deep understanding of the local market, to ensure that the project accurately dovetails with the regional development needs.
