According to Wechat Official Account @gh_4e1cca6047f0, it is reported that the total capacity of grid-scale battery storage system projects that have received planning approval in the U.K. amounts to 58.27GW/121.65GWh. 2025 new approved project capacity in April is 1,420MW/2,840MWh, which is slightly lower than that in March.
In the context of the current restructuring of the UK's grid connection queue, obtaining planning permission has become a key condition for projects to receive grid connection priority.
UK grid-level energy storage construction maintains a steady development trend, with about 7.6GW/17GWh of BESS projects currently under construction. As of April, the planned energy storage projects in the UK amounted to 31.17GW/63.64GWh, and the total installed capacity of large BESS in operation reached 6.42MW/9.16GWh.
