SANY Silicon Energy has officially broken ground on a 10MW solar power plant being built for Runtu Mining Company. This marks SANY Silicon Energy’s first project in Zimbabwe and its first in Africa to adopt the innovative “EP + F” model. The plant will feature 710 high-efficiency photovoltaic modules from SANY, advanced inverters, and a robust mounting system. Construction is progressing rapidly, with grid connection scheduled by the end of 2025. The plant is expected to generate 18 million kWh of electricity annually.
The project aims to help alleviate Zimbabwe’s power shortages, support local industrial development, and advance the region’s low-carbon transition. As the first demonstration of the “EP + F” model, this initiative reduces upfront costs and increases financing flexibility, offering a replicable blueprint for future clean energy cooperation in emerging markets.
The Chairman of Runtu Mining expressed interest in expanding the partnership with SANY Silicon Energy into areas such as microgrids, electrification of heavy-duty trucks, and EV charging infrastructure. This milestone project highlights SANY Silicon Energy’s commitment to global decarbonization. The company pledges to uphold high standards of quality and efficiency, ensure timely delivery, and create lasting value for Zimbabwe’s energy landscape.
