Jingneng and GD Power Win Bid for 1.5 GW Large-Scale Wind-Solar Base in Inner Mongolia

published: 2025-08-22 9:36

On August 20, the preferred investors for the 1,500 MW “wind–solar–thermal–storage integrated” project in Jingda, Ulaanqab, Inner Mongolia were announced. A consortium formed by Beijing Jingneng Power Co., Ltd. and GD Power Development Co., Ltd. won the bid for the project.

It is worth noting that the 1,500 MW Jingda project had already been included in Ulaanqab’s 2023 development plan. The project is to be built on barren hills in Fengzhen City, which has abundant wind and solar resources, and will comprise 1.2 GW of wind power, 300 MW of solar PV, and a 225 MW/2-hour energy storage facility. Supporting infrastructure will include three 220 kV booster stations. Power generated from the project will be delivered via the new booster stations to the 500 kV substation of Inner Mongolia Jinglong Power Co., Ltd., and then transmitted through the “Jinglong–Datong–Fangshan” 500 kV transmission corridor to the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei North Grid. The total investment is estimated at RMB 8.645 billion.

The project has been included in the third batch of large-scale wind and solar base projects in desert, Gobi, and other arid regions as designated by the state. Electricity will be transmitted outward for consumption. The construction plan has already been approved, and this announcement only concerns the selection of the project’s investors. The project implementation will follow the previously approved scheme.
