Over 22 GWh: Solid-State & Semi-Solid-State Battery Capacity Ramp-Up Wave Arrives

published: 2026-01-05 18:02

Recently, a number of battery and material production capacity projects have been intensively launched. Enterprises including Lopal Tech. and Inx Tech. have taken frequent actions. Technological tracks such as lithium iron phosphate (LFP), solid-state and semi-solid-state batteries are accelerating their development, driving the industry into a fast lane.

RMB 2 Billion Investment: Lopal Tech. Signs Contract for Lithium Battery Project

According to a report from "Changzhou Release", on January 1, 2026, the high-performance lithium battery cathode material project of Changzhou Liyuan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. was signed in Jintan District. The contracted project is invested and constructed by Liyuan (Jiangsu) Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Changzhou Liyuan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., which is a holding company of Lopal Tech. The project is to be located in the Jintan Hualuogeng High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Jiangsu Province.

Lopal Tech. also issued an announcement stating that, in accordance with market demand and the company's actual conditions, it plans to invest in the construction of a high-performance lithium battery cathode material project to further expand the production capacity of high-performance lithium iron phosphate. The total planned investment of the project shall not exceed RMB 2 billion.

It is reported that upon reaching full production capacity, the project is expected to achieve an annual output of 240,000 tonnes of lithium iron phosphate cathode materials. The production base will be implemented in two phases. The first phase is planned to have a capacity of 120,000 tonnes, and Changzhou Liyuan will launch the construction of the second phase in due course based on market conditions. After completion, the project will become the group's largest single-unit and technologically advanced demonstration fifth-generation factory, capable of meeting the large-batch order demands of customers such as CATL, CORNEX, and EVE Energy.

2 GWh Capacity: Inx Tech. Puts Its Solid-State Battery Production Line into Operation

On December 29, Inx Tech. announced that the first batch of solid-state cylindrical batteries from Phase I of its 10 GWh solid-state battery project rolled off the production line successfully, with an output value corresponding to 2 GWh.

It is learned that the mass production project is planned to be constructed in two phases. The 2 GWh capacity of Phase I will mainly target the high-end consumer electronics market, covering application scenarios such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, robotic vacuum cleaners and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). The 8 GWh planned capacity of Phase II will focus on electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, embodied robots and new energy vehicle sectors.

Founded in 2020, Inx Tech. is a national high-tech enterprise as well as a specialized, sophisticated, distinctive and innovative ("Little Giant") enterprise, focusing on the R&D and production of high-energy-density and high-safety lithium metal solid-state batteries.

Annual Output of 10 GWh: Semi-Solid-State Battery Project Signed in Inner Mongolia

On December 28, the People's Government of Otog Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, signed an investment cooperation agreement with Shenzhen Fuxin Industrial Technology Co., Ltd. in Shenzhen.

Under the agreement, the two parties will construct a production line with an annual output of 10 GWh semi-solid-state lithium-ion batteries and battery packs (PACK) in Otog Banner, along with a supporting 2,000 MWh grid-side standalone energy storage power station.

RMB 1.1 Billion Investment: Sichuan 2 GWh Semi-Solid-State Battery Project Breaks Ground

On December 28, the groundbreaking ceremony of Luochu Power Source Technology (Bazhong) Co., Ltd.'s project, "Annual Output of 2 GWh High-Rate Semi-Solid-State Batteries and 500,000 Sets of Power Supply Systems", was held.

Located in the Bazhong Economic and Technological Development Zone, Bazhong City, Sichuan Province, the project has a total investment of RMB 1.1 billion. It will mainly construct production lines for high-rate semi-solid-state batteries and power supply system integration, as well as supporting R&D, integration, warehousing and logistics facilities.

Among them, the 2 GWh high-rate semi-solid-state battery production line adopts industry-leading integrated slitting and stacking technology and semi-solid-state electrolyte composite technology, which is suitable for cutting-edge application scenarios in the low-altitude economy field, such as UAVs, electrified smart agricultural machinery, high-end electric motorcycles and special equipment. The 500,000 sets of power supply system production line focuses on the "high-rate battery + battery management system (BMS) + integrated system integration solution".
