EnergyTrend learned that on February 5, Gotion High-tech released an announcement on the preliminary plan for the private placement of A-shares to specific targets in 2026, planning to raise RMB 5 billion via private placement to boost the construction of new energy battery capacity expansion.
According to the announcement, the total investment in the relevant projects of this private placement by Gotion High-tech exceeds RMB 14 billion, with the fund-raising investment projects mainly including the following:
- The 20GWh power battery project with a total investment of RMB 5.00072 billion, planning to use RMB 2 billion of the raised funds (accounting for 40%). The project is to be implemented by its wholly-owned subsidiary Hefei Gotion Green Energy Co., Ltd., located in the Xinnan Zone of Hefei City, Anhui Province.
- The 20GWh new energy battery base project of Gotion High-tech with a total investment of RMB 4.00036 billion, planning to use RMB 1 billion of the raised funds (accounting for 20%). The project is to be implemented by its wholly-owned subsidiary Wuhu Gotion Power Technology Co., Ltd., located in the Hi-Tech Zone of Wuhu City, Anhui Province.
- The intelligent manufacturing base project for new lithium-ion batteries (20GWh) with a total investment of RMB 4 billion, planning to use RMB 1 billion of the raised funds (accounting for 20%). The project is to be implemented by its wholly-owned subsidiary Jiangsu Gotion New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., located in the Liuhe District of Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.
- Working capital supplementation with a total investment of RMB 1 billion, planning to use RMB 1 billion of the raised funds (accounting for 20%).
Gotion High-tech stated that the implementation of the fund-raising investment projects is expected to further expand its new-quality production capacity, better meet the ever-growing market demand, and provide stable and reliable supply guarantees for both new and existing customers. Meanwhile, the company will also strengthen its large-scale advantages and optimize its industrial chain layout.
Except for the fund-raising investment projects, other key information of this private placement, such as the issuance targets, issuance price and issuance volume, has not been finally determined. Gotion High-tech expects that the number of shares to be issued will not exceed 15% of the company's total share capital before this issuance.
This capacity expansion plan may stem from Gotion High-tech's current high capacity utilization rate and strong market demand. Data shows that in the first three quarters of 2025, Gotion High-tech's total shipments of power and energy storage batteries reached approximately 63GWh, among which energy storage battery shipments accounted for about 30%. Entering the fourth quarter, Gotion High-tech indicated that from the perspective of market demand and order volume, production scheduling has maintained continuous growth in Q4, with the capacity utilization rate remaining at a high level.
EnergyTrend sorted out and found that Gotion High-tech's capacity expansion move is a microcosm of the collective expansion drive by leading enterprises in the lithium battery industry. In 2025, the energy storage industry ushered in a capacity expansion wave. CATL, EVE Energy, Sunwoda, CORNEX, Envision AESC, Hithium, CALB, NETC, Pengcheng Infinite, HyperStrong and other enterprises all have clear energy storage battery capacity expansion projects that have been signed, started or put into production.
It can be seen from the above data that the scale of energy storage capacity expansion was upgraded in 2025: the energy storage capacity of a single project mostly exceeded 10GWh, the planned projects of leading enterprises reached more than 40GWh, and investment at the level of RMB 10 billion has also become the norm. In addition, in terms of project progress, a high proportion of projects have been substantially launched, and the pace of capacity expansion has been accelerated across the board.
Notably, most capacity expansion projects focus on the layout of new technologies: large-capacity energy storage battery cells with a capacity of over 500Ah have become the mainstream. Enterprises are also deploying new technologies such as sodium-ion batteries and solid-state batteries simultaneously, supporting capacity expansion through technological iteration.
