Recently, upstream and downstream players across the new energy battery and energy storage industry chains have continued to ramp up their production capacity layouts. Several key projects have experienced concentrated, substantive progress, including contract signings, groundbreakings, and impending production launches.

Dynanonic Plans to Build Two New Lithium Battery Material Projects

On May 20, Dynanonic announced its intention to sign an investment agreement with the People's Government of Luquan Yi and Miao Autonomous County. The company plans to construct the "Luquan Dynanonic Green Phosphorus-Based New Energy Material Industry Chain Integration Project." This initiative includes a new facility with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of phosphate cathode materials and a supporting project yielding 270,000 tons of nitric acid annually, with a total planned investment of 6.3 billion yuan. The construction period will span 24 months, funded by the company's own and self-raised capital.

In addition, the company intends to sign an investment agreement with the People's Government of Zhanyi District, Qujing City, to invest in and build the "Dynanonic New Lithium Battery Material Integration Project" within the Qujing High-tech Industrial Development Zone. This project primarily involves constructing a 200,000-ton/year phosphate new material production line with an estimated total investment of approximately 2.4 billion yuan. It is scheduled to commence in May 2026, with a construction period of 24 months.

Putailai Plans to Build a Lithium-Ion Battery Separator Project

On May 20, Putailai announced its plan to invest in the construction of a lithium-ion battery separator project with an annual production capacity of 7.2 billion square meters, featuring a total planned investment of 5.6 billion yuan.

The project will be implemented in two phases. Phase I involves an investment of 2.6 billion yuan to achieve an annual production capacity of 3.2 billion square meters, scheduled for completion and trial production within 2027. Phase II requires a 3 billion yuan investment to add an annual capacity of 4 billion square meters, with completion and full production expected in the first quarter of 2028.

Xi'an Dongrun Signs Contract for 10GWh High-Energy Battery Cell Project

On May 18, Xi'an Dongrun Electronic Information Co., Ltd. and the People's Government of Kaili City, Guizhou Province, officially signed an investment agreement, bringing a 10GWh high-energy battery cell project to the Qiandongnan High-tech Zone.

Prior to this, on February 6, an energy storage battery production base project led by Jiangsu Qiyuan Zhongtuo Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd.—a holding subsidiary of Xi'an Dongrun Electronic Information Co., Ltd.—was approved and filed. This project boasts a total investment of up to 2 billion yuan and a planned annual capacity of 10GWh.

Once the project reaches full production, it will deliver an annual capacity of 10GWh in high-performance energy storage batteries and systems. The products will be widely applied across all scenarios, including grid-side peak shaving and frequency regulation, commercial and industrial energy storage, supporting facilities for new energy power plants, and residential energy storage.

Full Sprint Ahead for the 6GWh Sodium-Ion Battery Project

According to Neijiang Converged Media, on May 18, construction of the Highstar Naxing sodium-ion battery production base project—featuring an annual capacity of 6GWh—is well underway, with production expected to begin this September.

With a total investment of 2 billion yuan, this project focuses on building intelligent production lines for large cylindrical and ultra-large prismatic sodium battery cells. Its products are primarily targeted at two high-potential sectors: start-stop systems for traditional fuel and new energy vehicles, and large-scale industrial energy storage.

Construction Begins on 30GWh Advanced Solar and Energy Storage Industry Base Project

On May 15, the Advanced Solar and Energy Storage Industry Base project located in the Hefei High-tech Zone officially broke ground, marking the project's entry into its substantive construction phase.

It is reported that the project has a total investment of nearly 10 billion yuan and is planned to be built in two phases, with a focus on developing a headquarters R&D center, an energy storage battery cell manufacturing base, and related supporting facilities. The phase I project is expected to complete equipment debugging and enter production by the end of November 2026. Once fully completed and operational, it will yield an annual production capacity of 30GWh for energy storage lithium-ion battery cells.

15GWh Energy Storage Integration PACK Factory to Be Put into Operation

On May 14, Guofeng Yuanchu, a subsidiary of Yichu Shuzhi, held an all-staff strategic mobilization and pledge rally for its 15GWh Energy Storage Integration PACK Factory.

Wang Huimin, the director of the Guofeng Yuanchu PACK Integration Factory, stated that all production line equipment for Guofeng Yuanchu has currently been installed and set in place. It is anticipated that joint testing will be completed by mid-June, with the first product rolling off the assembly line by the end of June, achieving the mass production target in July. In the second half of the year, the company will finalize its 6.25MWh centralized and string products, alongside its domestic and international product layouts.
