According to EnergyTrend, Trina Solar’s subsidiary Shanghai Tianfu Interstellar Energy Technology Co., Ltd. officially entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Oriental TianSuan Technology Co., Ltd. and completed the signing ceremony on July 17.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two parties will carry out in-depth collaboration in the field of space photovoltaics. Leveraging Trina Solar’s technological prowess in photovoltaic cells and Oriental TianSuan’s industry advantages and technical expertise in space-based computing, both sides will jointly develop photovoltaic energy solutions tailored for space scenarios. They will also advance the in-orbit testing of relevant products to accelerate the large-scale commercial application of core technologies and products.
This strategic cooperation marks another key layout of Trina Solar in the space photovoltaic track, following its equity investment in Guoxing Aerospace.
Public information shows that Oriental TianSuan has long been deeply engaged in the supporting sector of space-based intelligent computing, with its core business focusing on energy adaptation scenarios for computing satellite constellations. Backed by the State Key Laboratory of Photovoltaic Science and Technology, Trina Solar has established a comprehensive technological layout in space photovoltaics. It has accumulated long-term and systematic R&D achievements across three core technical routes: crystalline silicon cells, perovskite tandem cells, and III-V multi-junction GaAs cells.
In a prior move to advance its space photovoltaic business, Trina Solar invested and established Shanghai Tianfu Interstellar Energy Technology Co., Ltd. on April 8, 2026. The company boasts a registered capital of 100 million yuan, with Trina Solar holding a 45% equity stake.
As Trina Solar’s exclusive operational platform for space energy business, Tianfu Interstellar is mainly responsible for adapting mature terrestrial photovoltaic technologies to aerospace scenarios, conducting the R&D, testing and verification of aerospace-grade photovoltaic products, and promoting the transformation and application of terrestrial photovoltaic technologies in the aerospace industry.
In terms of industrial layout, Trina Solar has previously made a strategic equity investment in Guoxing Aerospace, successfully foraying into the AI computing satellite manufacturing sector. The two parties have jointly carried out adaptive R&D of aerospace photovoltaic cells and formulated clear plans for in-orbit verification.
According to corporate equity data from Qichacha, Guoxing Aerospace directly holds a 12.3684% stake in Oriental TianSuan, serving as one of its core shareholders. Oriental TianSuan has thus become a key carrier for Guoxing Aerospace’s layout in space-based computing. This integrated industrial and equity ecosystem effectively connects three core links: satellite manufacturing, space-based computing and spatial energy, building a complete industrial collaboration chain to support the in-depth cooperation between Trina Solar and Oriental TianSuan.
Through this cooperation, Trina Solar has successfully expanded the application scenarios of its aerospace photovoltaic products from conventional satellites to space-based computing constellations. At present, China’s construction of low-orbit satellite networks and space-based computing infrastructure is accelerating steadily. High-power computing satellites generate growing demand for highly reliable and lightweight space photovoltaic products.
Against this backdrop, leading domestic photovoltaic enterprises have actively expanded into the space energy track relying on their core cell R&D capabilities and large-scale manufacturing advantages, making cross-border layout in space photovoltaics a major industry trend. Top players including Trina Solar, Jinko Power and GCL Group have set up dedicated operational platforms or established space energy alliances to deploy businesses in the space photovoltaic sector.
