EnergyTrend has learned that, recently, the construction of energy storage and battery capacity in multiple regions has further accelerated. Companies such as GoodWe and Tuoyi Guneng are accelerating their layout for energy storage and solid-state battery capacity; Xingkong Group and ZN Energy are advancing sodium-ion battery projects; and Hunan Jinwei has landed an all-vanadium flow energy storage project.
GoodWe's 6GWh Energy Storage Base Phase II Project Breaks Ground
On August 18, the Phase II production base project of the GoodWe (Guangde) New Energy Industrial Park broke ground. This project focuses on the production of medium and large-scale energy storage systems, with a total investment of RMB 538 million and a planned capacity of 6GWh for energy storage systems.
According to reports, Phase I of GoodWe's Guangde Industrial Park primarily focused on residential energy storage, while this Phase II focuses on the medium and large-scale energy storage sector. Once completed, the Guangde base will form a capacity layout covering residential, commercial and industrial (C&I), and utility-scale energy storage.
300MWh All-Vanadium Flow Energy Storage Project Approved
On August 17, the environmental impact assessment for the 300MWh all-vanadium flow energy storage battery equipment smart manufacturing base project of Hunan Jinwei New Material Technology Co., Ltd. was approved by the Huaihua Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau in Hunan Province.
Located in the Zhongfang Area (Luyang) of the Huaihua High-tech Industrial Development Zone, the project has a total investment of RMB 250 million. It plans to lease existing factory buildings for construction, with a total building area of approximately 3,090 square meters. Once completed, it will achieve an annual production capacity of 300MWh for all-vanadium flow energy storage batteries.
Xingkong Group Signs Contract for Nanxun Sodium-Ion Battery Smart Factory
On August 15, Xingkong Group signed a sodium-ion battery smart factory project agreement with the Nanxun Economic Development Zone in Huzhou, Zhejiang. Specific investment amounts and capacity scales have not yet been disclosed.
It is understood that Xingkong Group has already mapped out the Sichuan Xingkong Sodium-Ion Battery Industry Comprehensive Project in the Eastern Economic Development Zone of Dazhou, Sichuan. With a total investment of RMB 11.5 billion, the project is planned to be built in three phases. It mainly involves the construction of sodium-ion battery cells, PACK integration, sodium-ion battery energy storage stations, 110kV substation distribution lines, and smart grid management systems. The products will be widely used in C&I energy storage, wind and solar power generation energy storage, low-speed transportation backup power, and other fields.
Tuoyi Guneng's 30GWh Solid-State Battery Project Starts Construction
On August 13, the solid-state battery project of Tuoyi Guneng (Inner Mongolia) Technology Co., Ltd. commenced construction in Tumd Left Banner, Hohhot City.
The project involves a total investment of RMB 6 billion and is planned to be constructed in three phases. Each phase will see an investment of RMB 2 billion with a planned capacity of 10GWh. Upon full completion, it will form an annual capacity of 30GWh for solid-state batteries. Among them, the first phase covers an area of about 371 mu (approx. 24.7 hectares) and plans to build cell factory buildings, electrode production workshops, finished product production lines, as well as supporting facilities such as a research and development center and warehousing logistics.
Advanced Prismatic All-Solid-State Battery Project Lands in Suzhou
On August 13, an advanced prismatic all-solid-state battery industrialization project was signed in Wuzhong District, Suzhou, Jiangsu. The project is jointly advanced by the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOP CAS) and CAS Low Carbon City Development (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.
The first phase of the project will build a 0.2GWh cell pilot line and a 4GWh PACK production line, aiming to achieve product shipments within two years. It will primarily target application fields such as embodied AI, the low-altitude economy, and electric aviation.
2.2GWh Sodium-Ion Battery Project Expected to Enter Production in September According to news from "Zhengning Fabu," the Phase II graphene sodium-ion battery cell project of ZN Energy New Energy Technology (Gansu) Co., Ltd. has entered the critical construction stage and is expected to be completed and put into production in September this year.
It is understood that the project, with a total investment of RMB 1 billion, started construction in March 2023 and is implemented in two phases. Among them, Phase I, with an investment of RMB 180 million, has completed the construction of a 3GWh energy storage production line and a 1GWh lithium battery production line, both of which have been put into production. Phase II plans an investment of RMB 820 million to build a 2.2GWh graphene sodium-ion battery cell production line.
Angaote Electric's Solid-State Battery Project Accelerates Construction
Recently, the solid-state battery headquarters and R&D manufacturing base project of Zhejiang Angaote Electric Technology Co., Ltd. has been accelerating its construction. Phase I has completed about 70%, with the infrastructure part expected to be completed between late August and mid-September.
With a total investment of RMB 2.12 billion, the project is planned to be built in three phases, aiming to achieve an annual production capacity of 3.5GWh of solid-state batteries within five years. Phase I involves an investment of about RMB 280 million and plans to build a 0.55GWh solid-state battery production line.
Currently, the main construction of the No. 1 factory building for Phase I is advancing, the power auxiliary building is about to be capped, the main structure of the warehouse is nearing completion, and the foundation of the production workshop has been finished. Meanwhile, a dry-process laminated solid-state battery pilot line has already been put into operation in the No. 2 factory building.
1GWh All-Solid-State Battery Project to Enter Trial Production
Recently, the production equipment for Chunli New Energy's all-solid-state energy storage battery project has entered the installation and debugging stage, with Phase I expected to begin trial production by the end of September.
Phase I of the project involves a total investment of RMB 150 million and plans to build a 1GWh all-solid-state battery mass production line. At present, most of the equipment has completed initial installation, and full-line joint debugging will be carried out soon.
The capacity of Phase I is expected to reach 1GWh to 2GWh. The products will primarily be used in fields such as light motive power, energy storage, marine power, the low-altitude economy, robotics, and special equipment. The overall project is constructed in two phases, and upon full completion and reaching target output, it is expected to form a 6GWh all-solid-state battery capacity.
