TCL Electronics Plans to Spin Off Photovoltaic Business for Independent Listing

published: 2026-08-26 14:13

EnergyTrend has learned that on August 24, TCL Electronics issued an announcement stating that the company is considering spinning off its photovoltaic (PV) business through a distribution in specie and seeking an independent listing.

TCL Electronics stated that based on a preliminary assessment, an independent listing of the PV business would allow the company to focus more on its global smart home appliance sector, making its strategic development direction clearer. Furthermore, the potential spin-off listing will enable the PV business to implement an independent development strategy and broaden its financing channels, which is considered in the best overall interests of the company and all shareholders.

According to the announcement, the plan is currently in its preliminary stage. TCL Electronics has not yet submitted an application to HKEX for the potential spin-off listing, and specific details such as the spin-off ratio and listing timeline have not been finalized.

From a business layout perspective, TCL Electronics has developed a diversified business structure in recent years—primarily focused on smart terminals, displays, and smart home appliances, alongside its PV expansion. The proposed independent listing of the PV business indicates that the company may further delineate the operational boundaries between its home appliances and new energy sectors.

At present, the matter remains in the early planning stage, with significant steps remaining before formal execution. Subsequent progress will depend on further company announcements and regulatory approvals.
