According to EnergyTrend, on August 27, the Dafeng Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province issued a public notice accepting the resubmitted environmental impact assessment (EIA) documents for the 12 GWhperannum energystorage battery project of Trina Energy Storage Technology (Yancheng Dafeng) Co., Ltd.
Documents indicate that the public notice does not concern a newbuild project, but rather adjustments to an existing ongoing project. Changes have occurred in wastegas treatment processes and rawmaterial and auxiliarymaterial consumption during the construction and implementation phase. Resubmission of the EIA was carried out in compliance with regulatory requirements, while the overall construction progress of the project remains unchanged.
Located in Dafeng Port Economic Development Zone, Dafeng District, Yancheng City, the project covers a land area of approximately 330 mu, with newlyadded building floor space of around 120,000 square meters. Major structures include cell formationandgrading workshops, PACK module workshops, energystorage system integration workshops, emergency accident pools, and NMP tank farms.
The battery project produces lithiumironphosphate energystorage cells. Phase I features a 4 GWh cell production line, with an overall planned total capacity of 12 GWh. The project is implemented by Trina Energy Storage Technology (Yancheng Dafeng) Co., Ltd., a whollyowned subsidiary of Trina Energy Storage.
In terms of capacity allocation, of the planned 12 GWh cell capacity, 6 GWh of cells will be sold directly to external customers, and the remaining 6 GWh will be used internally for the output of PACK modules and integrated energystorage systems.
Public information shows that the Dafeng base is one of Trina Energy Storage’s three major domestic manufacturing bases; the other two are located in Changzhou and Chuzhou. The Dafeng base went into operation in September 2025. Together with the Chuzhou production base, Trina Energy Storage’s planned total cell capacity will reach 25 GWh.
