Recently, energy storage companies including Sungrow, Canadian Solar, Huawei Digital Power, Hoymiles, and Guorun Energy Storage have, one after another, disclosed updates on major energy storage orders and project milestones. These developments span diverse global markets, including Cambodia, Finland, Australia, the Philippines, Hungary, and domestic China.
Sungrow Secures 815.6 MWh in Overseas Energy Storage Projects
Recently, Sungrow disclosed progress on energy storage projects in Cambodia and Finland, representing a total combined storage capacity exceeding 815 MWh.
In Cambodia, the EDC Kandal Stung Energy Storage Power Station (GS79)—constructed with Sungrow’s participation—has completed grid connection and all acceptance testing. Located in Ta Khmau, Kandal Province, the project has a capacity of 108.4 MW / 215.6 MWh and utilizes centralized grid-forming energy storage technology. Equipped with 516 grid-forming Power Conversion Systems (PCS), the facility features black-start and islanded-operation capabilities, enabling coordinated operation with local hydropower and thermal power plants.
In Finland, 600 MWh under a 1 GWh energy storage framework agreement previously signed between Sungrow and Swiss energy storage developer Delta Capacity has entered the project implementation phase. The agreement covers two energy storage power stations, Kärppiö and AKKU One, each with a capacity of 125 MW / 300 MWh. Construction on the Kärppiö project has officially started, with grid connection and commissioning planned for the fourth quarter of 2027; construction on the AKKU One project has likewise commenced. Sungrow will supply its PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled energy storage system technology for both projects.
Canadian Solar Secures 200 MWh Australian Energy Storage Order
Recently, e-STORAGE, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, reached a cooperation agreement with Swedish renewable energy developer OX2 to supply a 100 MW / 200 MWh energy storage system for the Muswellbrook hybrid solar-plus-storage project in New South Wales, Australia. The company will be responsible for equipment delivery, system integration, grid connection, and commissioning. The project will deploy e-STORAGE SolBank 3.0 energy storage battery enclosures paired with the proprietary EQ-S Energy Management System (EMS).
Located in the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone in New South Wales, the Muswellbrook project is constructed on a disused coal mine site and planned to include both photovoltaics and battery storage. Construction commenced in May 2026; shipments of the energy storage system are planned to begin in Q3 2027, with commercial operation expected in Q3 2028.
Huawei Digital Power Signs Energy Storage Agreement with Solarion Energy
On October 6, Huawei Digital Power Philippines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Solarion Energy in Manila to collaborate on floating photovoltaics and hybrid solar-plus-storage (PV+ESS) solutions.
According to the agreement, Huawei Digital Power will supply inverters, smart energy storage systems, and technical support—including floating anti-corrosion and operations and maintenance (O&M)—for Solarion's floating PV projects.
Hoymiles Deploys 32 MWh Solar-Plus-Storage Projects in Hungary
Recently, Hoymiles, in partnership with GNX and EPC partner KKS, deployed 16 solar-plus-storage sites across Hungary, delivering a cumulative total of 32 MWh of energy storage.
Distributed across four regions—Kalocsa, Solt, Békés, and Bácsalmás—each station is equipped with a 500 kW photovoltaic power plant and a 0.48 MW / 2 MWh Hoymiles HoyUltra 2000M energy storage system. The projects were connected to the grid in July 2026.
In these projects, Hoymiles provided the energy storage systems and technical support, GNX managed the joint commissioning of the SCADA monitoring system and EMS, and KKS undertook on-site construction and auxiliary infrastructure. The three parties jointly completed equipment deployment, system integration, and commissioning, as well as providing localized services.
Guorun Energy Storage Signs 40 MWh Flow Battery Order
On September 30, Shanxi Guorun Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. signed an energy storage system equipment procurement contract with Inner Mongolia Guotian Construction Development Co., Ltd.
According to the contract, Guorun Energy Storage will supply system equipment and supporting technical services for the 10 MW / 40 MWh all-vanadium redox flow battery portion of Guotian Energy’s 200 MW / 800 MWh grid-side independent new-type energy storage power station project in Erenhot.
