In Vietnam, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has submitted the revised draft of “National Power Plan for 2021-2030 and Achieving 2045 Targets (PDP8)” to the Office of the Prime Minister. The content of the revised draft is expected to help the Vietnamese government expedite its efforts to fulfill the pledge made at COP26 to phase out coal-fired generation by 2040 and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Jordanian Government Initiates Study on How to Increase Grid Capacity and Achieve Renewable Target of 50% by 2030

According to the latest reporting by Petra and The Jordan Times, Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has commenced a study on the expansion of the national power grid so that the target of renewables comprising 50% of domestic electricity generation by 2030 will be met. Near the end of last year, the Jordanian government announced the 2030 target, which also represents a doubling of the share of renewables.
