According to incomplete statistics from EnergyTrend, orders disclosed by Chinese energystorage enterprises in Q3 2026 were predominantly from overseas markets. Based on publicly announced projects, total energystorage system orders in Q3 stood at approximately 94 GWh, while total energystorage cell orders reached around 246.6 GWh. The statistics cover signed, commissioned and delivered orders.
Overseas Orders Exceed 90% of Total, with Concentrated Deals in Europe and the Middle East
Among disclosed signed orders, Chinese firms secured roughly 74 GWh of energystorage system contracts in Q3, of which overseas orders amounted to 67.8 GWh, representing a 93% share.
Europe remained a key overseas destination for Chinese energystorage players. Signed European orders for the quarter hit about 31.2 GWh, accounting for 42% of total signed volume. Order coverage was broad, spanning mature markets such as Germany and the United Kingdom as well as emerging markets including Greece and Romania, where largevolume contracts were inked.
Signed orders in the MiddleEast market reached approximately 21.3 GWh, making up 28.7% of total contracted volume. BYD obtained an 11.275 GWh energystorage order in July, the largest singledeal volume in Q3. In September, Gotion HighTech signed a 6 GWh order in Saudi Arabia, and Huawei was awarded a 4 GWh project in Egypt. These megaorders lifted the overall contracted volume.
Excluding mainland China, the AsiaPacific market recorded around 14.6 GWh of signed Q3 orders, mainly from Australia, India, Japan, the Philippines and Malaysia. By contrast, the Americas saw relatively limited order volume at roughly 1.94 GWh.
Frequent GWScale MegaDeals, Accounting for 84% of Total Signed Orders
In terms of order size, there were 19 publicly announced energystorage system contracts of 1 GWh and above in Q3 2026, totalling about 62.2 GWh and representing 84% of all signed orders.
Five individual contracts reached 5 GWh or higher: BYD’s 11.275 GWh agreement with UAEbased energy firm Masdar; Gotion HighTech’s 6 GWh Saudi contract; Comex New Energy’s 5 GWh deal with Denmark’s KK Group; CATL’s 5 GWh Tianheng sodiumion energystorage system order with European energystorage integrator Alfen N.V.; and Rongjie Energy’s 5 GWh energystoragesystem contract with Indian power utility JSW Energy Limited.
Orders ranging from 1 GWh to 5 GWh were also widespread, involving CATL, BYD, Sungrow Power, EVE Energy, Huawei, Comex New Energy, Hyperstrong and JDEnergy.
EnergyStorage Cell Orders Hit 246.6 GWh, Rising Share of LargeCapacity and Sodiumion Battery Deals
Per incomplete data compiled by EnergyTrend, disclosed celllevel signed orders from Chinese energystorage companies totalled around 246.6 GWh in Q3. Notably, EVE Energy signed a 206 GWh battery supply framework agreement with Fluence. Although this accounts for a large proportion of the total, it is a longterm supply arrangement covering 20272031.
On the product side, 314 Ah cells remained a mainstream specification in current orders, while largecapacity cells gained substantial market traction. Pengcheng Infinite and Jiayang Energy closed a 25 GWh longterm supply contract, comprising 20 GWh of 314 Ah energystorage cells and 5 GWh of 587 Ah largecapacity cells. Rongjie Energy entered a 4 GWh framework agreement with Lineage Power for 314 Ah and 588 Ah LFP cells.
Sodiumion batteries also expanded into overseas markets. HiNa Battery signed a fiveyear, 10 GWh longterm sodiumionbattery supply agreement with South Korea’s VOLTA Co., Ltd.
BYD and CATL Each Secure Over 10 GWh of Signed Orders
BYD recorded approximately 13.68 GWh of signed orders, mainly from Europe and the Middle East. It won a 600 MW/2.4 GWh contract in Poland and the 11.275 GWh MiddleEast deal. Its Haohan energystorage system was the primary product, deployed largely for utilityscale energystorage projects.
CATL’s contracted volume stood at about 13.65 GWh across Europe, South America and other regions. European orders were concentrated in Greece, the United Kingdom and Romania, alongside a 200 MW/1.3 GWh project in Chile. Its Tianheng sodiumion energystorage system secured a 5 GWh European order.
Comex New Energy posted around 7 GWh of signed orders, including 2 GWh of DCside energystorage products in Malaysia and Thailand, plus a 5 GWh energystoragesystem contract in Europe.
Gotion HighTech won Saudi Arabia’s first centralized battery energystorage system tender for 6 GWh. The project consists of three sites: Al Muwayah, Haden and Al Kahafa, each sized at 500 MW/2 GWh, deploying Gotion’s Qianyuan Intelligent centralized energystorage systems.
Sungrow Power obtained roughly 5.56 GWh of signed orders covering Southeast Asia, Europe and South America. Several projects adopt its PowerTitan 2.0 and PowerTitan 3.0 energystorage systems.
