First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR) announced that its innovative, thin-film solar photovoltaic (PV) modules have received accreditation under the U.K. Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), opening the door to the use of its modules in systems that benefit from the United Kingdom’s feed-in tariff.

The MCS accreditation is an internationally recognized quality assurance scheme which validates the quality and reliability of approved products that satisfy rigorous standards. Product certification involves type testing of products and an assessment of the manufacturing processes, materials, procedures, and staff training. .

“The MCS is a key prerequisite to serving the U.K. market,” said TK Kallenbach, head of First Solar’s Components Business Group. “Installers and products that carry the MCS mark provide end-customers with assurance that their PV systems comply with rigorous international standards.”
