SCHOTT Solar Expands with Launch of SCHOTT Solar® PRO Design Services

published: 2012-03-14 15:50

SCHOTT Solar PV, Inc. announced the launch of SCHOTT Solar® PRO Design Services. The new service from SCHOTT Solar enables installers to reduce costs and time for developing plans, streamline the permitting process and solve complex design and engineering challenges efficiently.

Using state of the art tools, the SCHOTT Solar® PRO Design Services team of highly-experienced engineers generates PV system designs with optimal array location, orientation, equipment selection and layout to maximize the power output within site and project specifications. Final design documents are permit-ready to NEC code. This enables installers to secure customer approvals, obtain permits and manage construction teams quickly and with maximum efficiency.

“System developers and integrators tell me that managing the complexities of solar energy system design, engineering and permitting can detract from their core business of developing projects and installing systems. SCHOTT Solar® PRO Design Services leverages our company’s 50-plus years of solar industry experience and can keep developers focused on the business of implementing solar projects,” said Tom Hecht, President of SCHOTT Solar PV in Albuquerque, NM. “SCHOTT Solar can fill that gap for developers and installers who don’t have an in-house design team or have overflow work that must be managed against tight budgets and deadlines.”

Under a multi-prong pilot project completed in 2011, SCHOTT Solar performed feasibility studies, developed designs and engineering specifications, and provided energy generation calculations for several solar energy projects, ranging from residential to complex multi-MW systems.

Permacity Solar recently chose SCHOTT Solar to deliver engineering specifications for a 450 kW commercial solar energy system that had significant siting and shading issues. “We were faced with higher equipment costs and lower projected energy output due to shading. The design team at SCHOTT Solar identified a DC optimizer solution that kept our costs down significantly. They delivered a design for a highly efficient system with less than 2% voltage drop.” said Jonathan Port, CEO of PermaCity.

SCHOTT Solar® PRO Design Services include:

• Feasibility and preliminary design (for projects larger than 500 kW)

• Performance modeling

• System design and layout

• Electrical line drawing

• Design review

• Component and balance of system selection
