Solaria to Develop 25 MW in Ecuador

Solaria Energía y Medio Ambiente S.A., has signed an agreement establishing the baselines for cooperation to develop a project in Ecuador.

The project is a ground mounted photovoltaic plant, located in the mountains of Quito. The development of the plant is divided on two stages: a first stage for the development of 1MW pilot project, that will be completed on the first half of 2012 and in a second stage, the project will be extended to 5 MW project that will be completed on the first half of 2013.

Solaria in the first phase of the project will carry out the electrical design, engineering and project management works, providing its second generation high efficiency modules, contributing also with its expertise and technology in the photovoltaic industry.

The agreement has been signed with a local developer, which already has the land and the funding for the project. Additionally, the agreement establishes the baselines to develop 5 MW project on a 70,000 m2 rooftop, located in Ciudad Empresarial (Quito), that it`s scheduled to be completed on the second half of 2012. Also, both companies have established a roadmap to jointly develop business opportunities in Ecuador and the Caribbean Area, as well as co-invest in Chile.

The international presence in new markets is a strategic priority for Solaria, specially in Latin America, where the company will consolidate its business in the coming years primarily in countries such as Chile, Ecuador, Brazil and Peru.
