LG Showcases Innovative Cell and Module Technologies at SPI 2016

published: 2016-09-14 17:36

LG Electronics USA is displaying its innovative technologies for cells and modules at this year’s Solar Power International exhibition. The showcased technologies include the brand new LG NeON™ R module made with the new “Back Contact” cell technology and the award-winning NeON™ 2 Bi-Facial module.

"At LG we are dedicated to providing green energy solutions in both the residential and commercial markets that provide not only cost and energy savings, but also beautiful, aesthetic designs that home and business owners are proud to display on their rooftops." said Stephen Hahm, senior vice president, Energy Business Center, LG Electronics USA.

LG’s main lineup displayed at SPI 2016 are NeON R Modules, NeON 2 Bi-Facial Module, and NeON 2 72-Cell Commercial-Grade Modules.

The NeON R module is LG’s first PV module product that made with the company’s Back Contact cell technology. The new cell is beautifully configured with a virtually seamless façade, perfectly blending into nearly all rooftop designs. Instead of visible busbars and wiring on the surface, the Back Contact cell boasts a completely black aesthetic that is both visually pleasing and energy efficient.

Featuring LID-free, N-type cell structure, the NeON R modules have power output of up to 375W or 7.3kWp, compared to p-type’s 5.8kWp.

NeON 2 Bi-Facial Module is an award-winning product that can generate 310W of power simply from the front side of the panel – supplemented by the power generated from the backside, the total power output can achieve 400W.

LG utilizes its Cello technology to optimize the bifacial performance. Cello technology utilizes circular-shaped wires to scatter light for better absorption while reducing electrical loss and increasing power output and reliability by spreading the electrical current through 12 thin wires rather than the traditional three busbars.

As for commercial projects, LG introduces NeON 2 72-cell module, which is designed with N-type double-sided cells. The power output reaches 400W compared to its family products, the LG365N2W-G4, LG370N2W-G4 and LG375N2W-G4 with power output of 365~375W.
