Renewable energy developers Photosol Développement and Aedes Energies have formed a joint venture known as Aedes-Photosol Développement. The new entity will be developing more than 200MWp of utility-scale PV projects in New Acquitane and Occitanie, which are two administrative regions of France. Both Photosol and Aedes are French companies. This event was confirmed in the middle of January by law firm Watson Farley & Williams, which advises Photsol, and has been reported by various news outlets since then.

Regarding the joint development of new PV projects, Photosol will be responsible for the technical and financial aspects, whereas Aedes will be in charge of the construction and operation of generation facilities. The electricity produced by these projects will be sold through a common platform. Photosol currently aims to begin commissioning the projects in 2024.

Photosol is now building and operating more than 50 PV power plants in France with a total generation capacity of 400MWp. It also has 3GWp of projects under development. All in all, Photosol is developing more than 11GW in France and the US. As for Aedes, it has more than 800MWp of projects under development. In December last year, French petroleum company Rubis acquired an 80% stake in Photosol for EUR 376 million. Working towards energy transition and carbon reduction, Rubis aims to install more than 1GW of renewable generation capacity by 2025.
