Recently, the National Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Station Safety Monitoring Information Platform released the "2023 Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Station Industry Statistics" (hereinafter referred to as the "Statistics").

According to the analysis of energy storage daily parameters, compared with the "2022 Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Station Industry Statistics", the "Statistics" presents the following characteristics:

First, the scale of new installed capacity increased by nearly 4 times year-on-year.

In 2023, electrochemical energy storage will show explosive growth. According to the "Statistics", in 2023, 486 new electrochemical energy storage power stations will be put into operation, with a total power of 18.11GW and a total energy of 36.81GWh, an increase of 151%, 392% and 368% respectively compared with 2022.

Second, large-scale power stations have become the mainstream.

The scale distribution of electrochemical energy storage power stations has changed from medium-sized to large-scale. In 2023, 9.94GW of large-scale power stations will be put into operation, accounting for 54.89%, compared with 42.63% in 2022, 8.01GW of medium-sized power stations will be newly installed, accounting for 44.20%, and the total installed capacity of small and below power stations will decrease from 3.82% in the previous year to 0.91%. In addition, the average power of electrochemical energy storage power stations put into operation in 2023 is 37.26MW, nearly double that of 2022.

Third, Anhui, Hubei and Guizhou have performed outstandingly.

By the end of 2023, the top 10 provinces with cumulative total installed capacity are: Shandong, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Hunan, Gansu, Xinjiang, Anhui, Hubei, Guizhou, and Guangdong, of which Anhui, Hubei, Guizhou, and Guangdong are the new entrants, and the top 10 provinces with the total installed capacity are Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Ningxia, Hunan, Shandong, Xinjiang, Hubei, Anhui, Guizhou, and Guangxi, of which Hubei, Anhui, Guizhou, and Guangxi are the new entrants.

Fourth, the utilization of power stations has declined in many indicators.

In 2023, the average operating coefficient of electrochemical energy storage is 0.13 (0.17 in the previous year) (3.12h per day and 1139h per year), the average utilization rate is 27% (32% in the previous year), the average equivalent charge and discharge times are 162 times, the average output coefficient is 0.54 (0.66 in the previous year), and the average standby coefficient is 0.84 (0.81).

Fifth, the energy efficiency level of power stations has been slightly improved.

In 2023, the electrochemical energy storage will have 3,680 GWh of charging capacity, 3,195 GWh of discharge capacity, and an average conversion efficiency of 86.82%, an increase of 5.76 percentage points from 81.06% in the previous year, and 1,869 GWh of grid-connected power, 1,476 GWh of on-grid power, and an average comprehensive efficiency of 78.98%, an increase of 1.06 percentage points from 77.95% in the previous year.
