On June 18th, it was reported that Gotion High - Tech and EHang reached a strategic cooperation. The two sides focus on the power system upgrade of EHang's flagship product EH216 series unmanned electric vertical take - off and landing aircraft (eVTOL), and plan to deepen cooperation in the field of multiple aircraft types in the future. They will empower the low - altitude economy with cutting - edge energy technologies, accelerate the construction of a safe, automatic and green three - dimensional transportation network, and promote the high - quality development of the low - altitude economy industry.
Under the agreement, Gotion High-tech will provide a customized battery system solution for the EH216 series aircraft. At the core of the solution is Gotion’s newly developed 46-series cylindrical cell featuring high energy density and high power output. Equipped with this advanced battery technology, the EH216 series will see significant enhancements in range, power performance, and safety. These upgrades will boost operational efficiency in diverse application scenarios, providing strong support for the industrialization and commercialization of the low-altitude economy.
Additionally, the two companies plan to expand their collaboration to include more innovative eVTOL models. Through breakthroughs in battery technology, they aim to jointly develop safer, more efficient, and more cost-effective eVTOL products, accelerating the commercialization of urban air mobility (UAM) and low-altitude logistics networks.
This partnership marks an upgrade from the framework agreement signed in December 2023, in which both parties planned to co-develop power cells, battery packs, energy storage systems, and charging infrastructure tailored to EHang's autonomous eVTOL aircraft.
