On June 26, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the 200MW/800MWh solid-state battery energy storage power station project in Wuhai City.
Located in the Low-Carbon Industrial Park of Wuhai High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Hainan District, Inner Mongolia, the project includes a 200MW/800MWh energy storage site and a 110kV booster station (with an integrated office building). Covering an area of 100 mu, the project involves a planned total investment of nearly 700 million yuan. It will use semi-solid lithium iron phosphate batteries, with an operational lifespan of 10 years. The system is designed to deliver an average annual charging capacity of 231 million kWh and a discharging capacity of 189 million kWh. All 11 preliminary procedures have been completed, and the planning permit for engineering construction, land use planning permit, and the exemption letter for a construction permit have been obtained.
As a key component in supporting China’s national energy strategy and advancing the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, the energy storage station represents a significant deployment of modern energy infrastructure. It will efficiently integrate and optimize the power system’s operational capabilities, playing a crucial role in enhancing the reliability and stability of electricity supply. Once completed and put into operation, the project will significantly improve the stability of Wuhai’s power grid and increase the capacity for consuming green electricity.
