Recently, Mexican energy company Skysense and BYD Energy Storage announced plans to deploy 300 MWh of energy storage capacity by 2026. This initiative aims to enhance energy resilience, reduce costs for energy-intensive users such as industrial facilities, shopping malls, and airports, and ensure operational continuity.
This collaboration will primarily utilize BYD's MC Cube-T BESS product, supporting commercial, industrial, and large-scale applications. It offers capabilities including frequency regulation, virtual power plant functionality, and emergency backup.
Skysense specializes in designing solar-plus-battery smart microgrids, collaborating closely with large Latin American power generators and consumers to optimize energy costs and reduce emissions. Since 2023, its Mexico operations have partnered with infrastructure asset manager Riverstone Holdings to deliver energy system services for complex, high-demand environments like airports. It also offers Energy-as-a-Service, enabling customers to access energy storage benefits without upfront capital expenditure.
