Based on public notices issued by multiple local authorities and corporate announcements, EnergyTrend has learned that the global energy storage industry chain has recently entered a period of intensive project commissioning at home and abroad.

From the concentrated approval of large-scale lithium battery manufacturing, energy storage battery and lithium iron phosphate material projects in Shandong, Hebei and Inner Mongolia in China, to leading Indian enterprises ramping up strategic financing to accelerate battery plant construction, the pace of capacity expansion in the global energy storage industry has been continuously picking up.

40 GWh: Another Lithium Battery Manufacturing Project Approved in Shandong

According to the Development and Reform Commission of Dongying City, Shandong Province, the implementation plan for the Green Power Direct Connection Project of Dongying Green Manufacturing Base, invested by Dongying Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., has recently been officially approved.

The approved project is designed to construct a 40 GWh green manufacturing base for lithium battery cells. On the power generation side, new energy facilities with a total capacity of 345 MW will be built, including 75 MW of wind power and 270 MW of photovoltaic power. On the energy storage side, an energy storage system with a total capacity of 300 MW/1200 MWh will be constructed.

As a key component in advancing the construction of a national-level zero-carbon industrial park, the project is scheduled to complete and put into operation all construction components covering power generation, grid, load and storage sides simultaneously by the end of December 2026.

RMB 0.5 Billion: 4 GWh/Year Energy Storage Battery Project Commissioned

On January 4, the Bureau of Data and Government Services of Luquan District, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, released a public notice on its intention to approve the environmental impact report of the 4 GWh/year energy storage battery construction project invested by Chunsheng New Energy (Shijiazhuang) Co., Ltd.

It is reported that Chunsheng New Energy (Shijiazhuang) Co., Ltd. plans to invest a total of RMB 0.5 billion in building two production lines with an annual output of 4 GWh energy storage batteries. Upon completion, the project will have an annual production capacity of 73 million energy storage battery cells.

500,000 Tonnes: High-end Lithium Iron Phosphate Project for Energy Storage to Be Built

On the evening of January 5, Fulin Precision issued an announcement stating that its subsidiary, Jiangxi Shenghua New Materials Co., Ltd., plans to invest in constructing a 500,000-tonne/year high-end lithium iron phosphate project for energy storage in the Mengsu Economic Development Zone of Yijinhuoluo Banner, Inner Mongolia.

With an estimated total investment of RMB 6 billion, the project will be implemented in two phases simultaneously, with each phase having a planned capacity of 250,000 tonnes of new-type lithium iron phosphate. The construction period is expected to be 12 months.

20 GWh: Indian Battery Plant Construction Accelerated

According to foreign media reports, Waaree Energies Ltd. has recently secured strategic financing amounting to 10.03 billion Indian rupees (approximately RMB 777 million). Leveraging this strategic capital injection, Waaree will expedite the commissioning process of its 20 GWh battery cell and pack manufacturing plant.

This financing is part of the 100-billion-rupee capital expenditure plan previously announced by the Waaree Group, which will be allocated to building an advanced lithium-ion battery cell and pack production plant with a capacity of 20 GWh. The plant will focus on high-performance battery cell and pack products, covering applications in centralized energy storage systems, electric transportation and distributed energy sectors.
