JinkoSolar Partners with XtalPi to Accelerate AI-Driven R&D of Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells

published: 2026-01-08 14:48

Recently, JinkoSolar announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with XtalPi, an AI- and robotics-enabled platform company focused on empowering R&D innovation. The two parties will jointly establish a joint venture to advance collaborative research and development of AI-based high-throughput perovskite–silicon tandem solar cells.

Under the agreement, the partners will jointly build the world’s first perovskite–silicon tandem experimental line featuring a fully closed-loop system of “AI-driven decision-making, robotic execution, and data feedback.” Leveraging JinkoSolar’s deep expertise and long-standing strengths in photovoltaic research and development, together with XtalPi’s unique advantages in quantum-physics-based algorithms, AI predictive models, and large-scale robotic automated experimentation, the collaboration will focus on tackling key challenges related to achieving both high efficiency and high stability in perovskite tandem solar cells.

This move marks a strong alliance between two industry leaders from distinct technological domains and signals the formal launch of deep collaboration in next-generation photovoltaic technologies, including perovskite tandem cells. Through the integration of “AI + robotics,” the partnership aims to reshape the paradigm of photovoltaic R&D and accelerate the development and industrialization of disruptive technologies.

Based on the solid technical foundations and the planned cooperation roadmap of both parties, JinkoSolar expects that perovskite tandem solar cells could move toward large-scale mass production within approximately the next three years.
