Recently, several companies including GCL Group, Jinhong Technology, Hunan Yuneng, and CBAK Energy have been steadily advancing project construction across the lithium-ion, solid-state, and sodium-ion battery sectors. Their developments span key stages of the supply chain, including cathode materials, anode materials, battery cells, and energy storage PACK systems.
Construction Begins on Xuzhou Xinrui Lithium's 400,000-Ton LFP Project
On September 28, construction officially broke ground on Xuzhou Xinrui Lithium's 400,000-ton lithium iron phosphate (LFP) project in the Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, Jiangsu Province.
According to company statements, this project represents a strategic move by GCL Group in key materials for electric vehicles (EV) and energy storage batteries. Upon completion, it will establish an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of LFP, further enhancing the supply capacity of supporting lithium battery cathode materials.
Jinhong Technology Plans 100 GWh Solid-State Battery Capacity
On September 24, Tianjin Urban Construction Group signed a cooperation agreement with Weihai Jinhong Technology. The two parties plan to build solid-state battery production lines across Weihai, Dalian, Ordos, Xi'an, and Xining, targeting a total planned capacity of approximately 100 GWh.
Under the agreement, both sides will collaborate on solid-state battery technologies, capacity expansion, and supply chain development. Jinhong Technology has already constructed a 0.5 GWh solid-state battery production line with product specifications including 35Ah, 102Ah, 105Ah, and 314Ah, primarily applied in energy storage, new energy vehicles, drones, and marine vessels.
Hunan Yuneng Expands Spanish Cathode Material Project to 70,000 Tons
On September 23, Hunan Yuneng announced that it intends to expand the planned scale of its lithium battery cathode material project in Spain from an annual capacity of 50,000 tons to 70,000 tons. Concurrently, the total project investment will increase from approximately RMB 982 million to roughly RMB 1.65 billion.
The project is being implemented by Yuneng International (Spain) New Energy Battery Material Co., Ltd., a company held by Hunan Yuneng's wholly-owned subsidiary Yuneng International (SGP) Investment Pte. Ltd., and has now entered the construction phase. Originally approved in April 2024, the project was initially planned for an annual output of 50,000 tons of lithium battery cathode materials.
Regarding this adjustment, Hunan Yuneng stated that it was primarily driven by growing overseas market demand alongside changes in local construction and operational conditions.
CBAK Energy Settles 12 GWh Sodium-Ion Cell Project in Nanjing
On September 23, CBAK Energy signed an investment agreement with the Nanjing Gaochun Economic Development Zone to construct a 12 GWh sodium-ion battery cell and system integration manufacturing project. The project involves a total planned investment of about RMB 3 billion, with construction scheduled to move forward in the second half of 2027.
The production lines feature a dual-compatible design for both lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries, enabling flexible switching between the two based on market demand. Once operational, the project will prioritize the large-scale manufacturing of 32140 series sodium-ion cells while expanding application scenarios into residential energy storage, portable power stations, light electric vehicles, and backup power supplies.
2 GWh EV & Energy Storage Battery Project Signed to Settle in Jinhu
According to news from "Jinhu Release," a 2 GWh power and energy storage battery project was recently signed to settle in Jinhu County, Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province. The project is jointly funded and built by three parties, including a Guangdong-based new energy technology company. Renovation and construction work is scheduled to begin in December 2026, with commissioning planned for September 2027.
The project will mainly produce cylindrical solid-state lithium batteries for EV power and energy storage applications, targeting sectors such as engineering equipment and power tools. Once completed, it will achieve an annual capacity of 2 GWh in EV and energy storage batteries.
DMEGC Magnetics' 10 GWh All-Tab Lithium Battery Project Awaits EIA Approval
Recently, the Dongyang Branch of the Jinhua Ecology and Environment Bureau in Zhejiang Province issued a public notice stating its intention to approve the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) document for Hengdian Group DMEGC Magnetics' 10 GWh novel high-efficiency all-tab lithium battery project.
According to the notice, the project is located in the DMEGC High-Tech Industrial Park in Xialiantang Village, Hengdian Town, Dongyang City, with a total investment of RMB 1.902 billion. Upon completion, the facility will feature an annual production capacity of 10 GWh of novel, high-efficiency all-tab lithium batteries.
Yichu Shuzhi Commissions 30 GWh Energy Storage PACK Base
On September 21, Jiangsu Guofeng Yuanchu New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Yichu Shuzhi, officially put its 30 GWh energy storage PACK integrated smart manufacturing base into operation in Suqian, Jiangsu Province.
Built in accordance with Industry 4.0 standards, the base focuses on manufacturing energy storage PACKs and system integration products, already possessing gigawatt-hour-level mass production and delivery capabilities. Now operational, the base will handle manufacturing and delivery operations for Yichu Shuzhi's energy storage line.
Menglianxin Technology Files Record for 600,000-Ton Lithium Anode Material Project
Recently, the Development and Reform Commission of Erenhot City in Inner Mongolia approved the project filing for Inner Mongolia Menglianxin Technology Co., Ltd.'s 600,000-ton annual capacity lithium battery anode material project.
Representing a total investment of RMB 6.5 billion, the project is located in the Erenhot Border Economic Cooperation Zone. Construction is scheduled to commence in April 2027 and wrap up by December 2029.
The plan encompasses 12 box furnace production lines and 20 crucible furnace production lines, complemented by auxiliary production facilities, utility stations, and integrated environmental protection facilities. Once fully operational, the project will achieve an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of lithium battery anode materials.
