EVE Energy Among Five Companies Seeing New Progress in Energy Storage Battery Projects

published: 2026-04-30 14:35

Recently, energy storage battery projects from several companies—including EVE Energy, Shanghai Electric, Kunyu Power, Qingna Energy, and Geely Group—have seen new developments. These projects cover multiple technology routes, such as lithium iron phosphate (LFP), flow batteries, and sodium-ion batteries.

EVE Energy

Energy Conservation Report Approved for 60GWh Energy Storage Battery Expansion Project

On April 27, the energy conservation report for the 60GWh energy storage (power) battery production base expansion project of Huizhou EVE Power, a subsidiary of EVE Energy, officially received the review opinion from the Energy Conservation Division of the Guangdong Provincial Energy Bureau.

According to the announcement, the project is located in the Tonghu Ecological and Smart Zone, Zhongkai District, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, with a total investment of approximately 6 billion yuan. It is expected to be put into operation in April 2029. The main construction content is the production line for high-specific-energy lithium iron phosphate batteries for energy storage (and power). Once completed and operating at full capacity, it is expected to yield an annual output of 60GWh of energy storage (power) batteries. The primary structures include cell and formation workshops, power stations, raw material warehouses, comprehensive buildings, and other production and auxiliary facilities.

Shanghai Electric

EIA Public Notification for 1GWh Energy Storage Flow Battery Project

Recently, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the 1GWh annual capacity energy storage flow battery project of Shanghai Electric (Anhui) Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. has entered the public notification phase for acceptance.

Located in the Anchao Economic Development Zone, Hefei City, Anhui Province, the project is being implemented by Shanghai Electric (Anhui) Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. and is classified as an expansion project. Relying on the existing Plant No. 4, the project will add Plant No. 1 and Plant No. 2, along with related equipment and auxiliary production facilities. The total investment is 15 million yuan, including 500,000 yuan in environmental protection investments, with a construction period of 3 months. Upon completion, the project will add an annual capacity of 1GWh for energy storage flow batteries. Following the expansion, the entire facility will be capable of achieving a production scale of 2GWh of energy storage flow batteries annually.

Kunyu Power

6GWh Battery Cell and Energy Storage Integration System Project

Recently, the Kunyu Power 6GWh Battery Cell and Energy Storage Integration System (Phase I) project has fully initiated key construction tasks. These include pile foundation engineering, factory roads, the R&D center foundation, the battery cell plant foundation, the PACK container workshop foundation, executive dormitory foundations, the NMP warehouse foundation, the electrolyte warehouse foundation, wall engineering, and drainage engineering. The overall construction is advancing orderly according to the construction schedule.

The project plans to complete the commissioning and operation of the PACK production line by mid-2026, finalize the completion acceptance by the end of 2026, and achieve the commissioning and operation of the battery cell production line by mid-2027.

Qingna Energy

Accelerated Advancement of 8GWh Sodium-Ion Battery Project

Recently, Anhui Qingna Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Qingna Technology) officially announced that the company has successfully completed a 200 million yuan Series A strategic financing round.

The funds raised in this round will be specifically earmarked for the construction of Qingna Technology's Suining production base. Efforts will be concentrated on advancing the landing, commissioning, and capacity expansion of the base's 8GWh intelligent production line for sodium-ion batteries. This production line will fully adopt Qingna Technology's mature mass-production technology, be equipped with automated high-speed production lines matching the standards of the Guangde base, and primarily focus on core products such as the 40160 series.

Geely Group

Energy Storage Sodium-Ion Battery Production Line Project Record Approved

On April 27, the recordation for Geely Group's "High-Performance Energy Storage Sodium-Ion Battery Digital Production Line Project" officially received approval from the Tonglu County Development and Reform Bureau. The project is being constructed and implemented by Fujiang Energy Technology Co., Ltd., with a total investment of 148.69 million yuan.

It is reported that the project, supported by artificial intelligence technology, focuses on the design and development of sodium-ion battery cells. It closely targets the core demands of commercial energy storage for batteries and has successfully bridged the data links across material systems, cell design, manufacturing processes, testing and evaluation, lifespan prediction, and energy storage scenario adaptation.

The project's main entity, Fujiang Energy, was established in May 2022 and is a core subsidiary within Geely Group's battery sector. It is jointly held by Jiangsu Yaoning New Energy Co., Ltd. (51% stake), Zhejiang Jichuang Industrial Development Co., Ltd. (45% stake), and Zhejiang Xinmaijie Enterprise Management Co., Ltd. (4% stake).
