CATL, CGN, Huadian, and Others Establish Multiple New Energy Companies

Recently, several central and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and industry chain leaders have accelerated their business layout in the new energy sector. CATL, CGN, and Huadian Group have successively established new energy-related companies, while GD Power Development Co., Ltd. (GDPD), Huaihe Energy, and others are advancing large-scale new energy base projects through joint ventures.

CGN Establishes a New Energy Company

On August 12, CGN New Energy (Kunming) Co., Ltd. was established with a registered capital of RMB 62 million. Its legal representative is Pu Zhiyong.

The equity penetration chart shows that the enterprise is jointly owned by CGN Yunnan New Energy Co., Ltd. (70%) and Huamei Holding Company Limited (30%). Its business scope includes wind power generation technology services; solar power generation technology services; energy storage technology services; research and development of emerging energy technologies; and the sale of new energy prime mover equipment.

CATL Establishes a New Energy Company

On August 12, Xundian Runshi New Energy Co., Ltd. was established. The company's legal representative is Wang Qiang, with a registered capital of RMB 10 million, and its registered address is located in Xundian Hui and Yi Autonomous County, Kunming City, Yunnan Province.

According to Qichacha, the company is wholly owned by Contemporary Green Energy Co., Ltd., which is a wholly-owned holding company of CATL.

The new company's business scope encompasses Internet of Things (IoT) technology research and development and services; IoT application services; wind power generation technology services; and solar power generation technology services.

GDPD, Huaihe Energy, and Others Establish a Joint Venture

On August 11 and 13, 2026, GDPD Huaineng Mega Base (Inner Mongolia) Energy Co., Ltd. and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Inner Mongolia GDPD Otog Power Generation Co., Ltd., were successively established. Dong Weidong serves as the legal representative for both companies, with registered capitals of RMB 200 million and RMB 100 million, respectively. They will be responsible for developing, constructing, and operating projects related to the Kubuqi Desert Base in Inner Mongolia.

In terms of ownership structure, GDPD Huaineng Mega Base (Inner Mongolia) Energy Co., Ltd. is 51% owned by GD Power Development Co., Ltd. (GDPD)—the flagship listed company of CHN Energy—with a subscribed capital contribution of RMB 102 million. Huaihe Energy (Group) Co., Ltd., a state-owned listed company controlled by Huainan Mining Group, holds a 34% stake with a subscribed capital contribution of RMB 68 million. PetroChina Taihu (Beijing) Investment Co., Ltd., a tier-two wholly-owned subsidiary of PetroChina Company Limited, holds a 10% stake with a subscribed capital contribution of RMB 20 million. Ordos New Energy Development and Utilization Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ordos State-owned Assets Investment Holding Group, holds a 5% stake with a subscribed capital contribution of RMB 10 million.

Its main business activities include power generation technology services; wind power generation technology services; solar power generation technology services; energy storage technology services; biomass energy technology services; power supply businesses; as well as power generation, transmission, and supply (distribution) businesses.

Huadian Group Establishes a New Energy Company

On August 4, Huadian (Yicheng District, Zaozhuang) New Energy Power Generation Co., Ltd. was registered and established. Its legal representative is Zhao Bin, with a registered capital of RMB 10 million.

According to the equity penetration chart, the company is wholly owned by Huadian New Energy Group. The company's business scope includes: research and development of emerging energy technologies; energy storage technology services; manufacturing of photovoltaic equipment and components; power generation technology services; wind power generation technology services; and solar power generation technology services.
