SunEdison has interconnected two solar power plants in Ontario. The 17.8MW DC solar Spirit and the 17.9MW DC Bruining solar power plants will provide clean energy to the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) through a 20-year feed-in-tariff agreement. SunEdison has installed more than 250MW dc of utility-scale and commercial rooftop solar power plants in Canada so far.

"We're proud to support Ontario's goal of increasing the availability of clean, renewable energy," stated Michelle Chislett, Vice President and Canadian Regional Manager at SunEdison. "We're also pleased to create jobs for the people of Ontario – these two solar power plants provided over 200 construction jobs."

The two solar power plants have a total of 35.7MW of installation capacity. They are enough to generate electricity for more than 4,000 homes during the 20-year FiT period. The electricity generated from these power plants is equivalent to removing over 8,000 metric tonn of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere annually.

The Solar Spirit solar power plant was purchased by BluEarth Renewables, and the Bruining solar power plant was purchased by Firelight Infrastructure Partners. Operation and maintenance of the plants will be performed by SunEdison Services, which provides global 24/7 asset management, monitoring and reporting services.
