Scientists Fabricate Safer, More Durable Li-ion Batteries by Turning Rubber into Electrolyte

published: 2022-02-02 9:30
It is generally understood that rubber is an insulator and, as a result, generally not an ideal material for electrolytes used in li-ion batteries. However, a research team from Georgia Tech has obliterated such a general perception of rubber by coming up with a highly conductive rubber. By leveraging this flexible electrolyte, the team hopes to create a safer EV battery that delivers longer driving ranges. ...  more

“Nearly Perfect” Design Breakthrough Made in Lithium-sulfur Battery Separators

published: 2022-01-08 9:30
Although it has only been heard not seem, scientists continue to note and anticipate the development of lithium-sulfur batteries because their theoretical storage capacity is more than 5 times that of lithium-ion batteries. Now the University of Michigan has developed a new lithium-sulfur battery separation film and believes this design to be "almost perfect" with the number of charges and discharges exceeding a thousand while fast charging. ...  more
