GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Limited announced that the Company attained production capacity of 3.5GW silicon wafers a month ahead of schedule, which further enhanced its influence and competitiveness in the global photovoltaic industry.

GCL-Poly held a much ceremony in Suzhou to celebrate the Company’s ramping up of its silicon wafers production capacity to 3.5GW. Related leaders, clients, suppliers and business partners attended the ceremony.

Mr. Shu Hua, the Executive Director and Executive President of GCL-Poly, said during the ceremony, “To build a vertically-integrated photovoltaic supply chain and thereby to meet the strong demand from market development in the photovoltaic industry as well as to provide the market with high-quality silicon products and services, GCL-Poly has been quickly expanding its photovoltaic business from polysilicon production to ingot production and slicing of wafers since the second half of 2009. On 30 July 2010, the phase I of its 650MW silicon wafer slicing project in Xuzhou reached production capacity. Silicon wafer projects in Changzhou and Suzhou as well as the expansion project of Konca Solar which was controlled by GCL-Poly commenced operation and ramping up to full production capacity successively. On 30 November 2010, with the announcement of attaining production capacity of the phase I 600MW silicon wafer project in Suzhou, it was then marked the full production capacity of 3.5GW silicon wafers a month ahead of schedule.”

GCL-Poly attaining overall target production capacity of 3.5GW silicon wafers ahead of schedule has created another milestone in the history of production and construction of silicon wafers. It will further reinforce GCL-Poly’s leading position in the global photovoltaic industry. It will attach great importance to the quick reduction of the costs of solar power generation and resulting to the early penetration of solar green energy to thousands of household families.
