MAGE SOLAR AG, headquartered in Ravensburg, is expanding its commitment as premium sponsor of the German professional soccer league (“Bundesliga”) as it took over the naming rights for the stadium of SC Freiburg. The club is the southernmost of the 18 clubs ranked in the nation’s first league. The stadium, which seats 24,000 spectators, is Germany’s first soccer stadium to produce clean energy.

MAGE SOLAR has been SC Freiburg’s premium sponsor since August 2011 and is also supporting the club as a strategic partner. The globally operating company offers customized photovoltaic system components for solar energy installations on residential, industrial and utility buildings as well as open spaces.

"It is important for us to support SC Freiburg and its work in various respects,” said Dr. Markus Feil, CEO of MAGE SOLAR AG. "In order to invigorate our partnership, we are jointly developing long-term concepts - the re-naming of the stadium emphasizes this and is marking the next logical step within the framework of this strategic partnership."

Dr. Heinrich Breit, committee member and treasurer of SC Freiburg: "We are delighted to have MAGE SOLAR AG as a continued patron who suits the Sport Club Freiburg superbly and who is an important partner for us. With the name change of the stadium, SC Freiburg reinforces its dedication to make a contribution to the energy transition. The club has been playing in a solar powered stadium since the 90s, and it is gratifying that this will now also be reflected in the name.”
