KEMET Continues Sponsorship of TUfast Electric Car Racing Team

KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM), a manufacturer of tantalum, ceramic, aluminum, film, paper and electrolytic capacitors, announced a continuation of its sponsorship of the TUfast e-Technology Racing Team at the Technical University of Munich, for the 2012 racing season.

As part of the sponsorship agreement, KEMET has become a Premier Sponsor and will assist with the development of the 2012 Formula Student Electric Competition race car as well as provide financial support along with a number of major German automotive companies. As the leading manufacturer of DC link film capacitors, KEMET will provide technical expertise in electric vehicle energy conversion and supply all capacitance solutions required for the project.

The TUfast e-Technology Racing Team is comprised of approximately 30 highly motivated students from different areas of expertise studying at the Technical University of Munich. The goal of the team is to design and build the best possible Formula Student Electric race car every year. Last season, the team won nearly every dynamic discipline at least once at races in Germany, Austria and Italy.

The electric car competition began in 2010 to complement the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International Formula SAE® competition for combustion engines, founded in 1979. The race cars are developed in accordance with the strict rules set by Formula SAE, making it possible to successfully compete in Formula SAE races worldwide.
