The contract with PEI Energy Corporation covers ten AW 116/3000 wind turbines to be installed on Prince Edward Island.

The agreement also includes the operation and maintenance of the wind turbines for a period of 15 years.

ACCIONA Group subsidiary company ACCIONA Windpower, a company dedicated to the design, manufacture and sale of wind turbines, has won a contract from PEI Energy Corporation for the supply, operation and maintenance of 30 megawatts (MW) capacity in a wind park on Prince Edward Island (Canada).

The agreement with PEI Energy Corporation, a public corporation of the government of the Canadian province of the same name located on the country's Atlantic seaboard, includes the supply of ten turbines of the AW116/3000, ACCIONA Windpower's most advanced model. The machine has 3 MW unit capacity and a 116-meter diameter rotor -one of the biggest in its class- to optimize performance over a wide range of wind speeds. The turbines will be installed on steel towers.

In addition to the supply of the turbines, the contract covers the operation and maintenance of the wind park for 15 years. The installation is currently being developed in the Hermanville and Clear Springs area and is expected to be operational by the end of 2013.

Joe Baker, CEO of ACCIONA Windpower North America, stated that "we're very excited to partner with Prince Edward Island Energy Corporation on the first Canadian installation of our AW3000 turbine. PEI Energy Corporation has done an excellent job in selecting a turbine that will deliver low-cost, clean energy to its customers".

With this contract, ACCIONA Windpower continues its expansion as a global supplier based on the reliability and competitiveness of its products, amply demonstrated in different conditions and environments. At present more than 90 wind parks in 13 countries -17 within the next two years- operate the company's wind turbines.
