First Solar, Inc.(Nasdaq: FSLR) has announced that its advanced thin-film Series 3 photovoltaic (PV) solar modules have been listed by UL (Underwriters Laboratories) as meeting standards UL1703 and ULC1703 for use in PV systems up to 1000 volts. This system voltage is typical for utility-scale PV power plants.

"First Solar is pleased that UL has validated the quality and safety of our modules, which are the first thin-film PV modules to receive this certification," said Tom Kuster, First Solar Vice President of Product Management and System Technology.

The company's modules were previously UL listed as meeting those standards for use in PV systems up to 600 volts.

First Solar is the leading developer and provider of utility-scale solar PV power plants, with a North American project pipeline of more than 2.9 gigawatts (GW). The company has produced nearly 80 million modules, generating more than 6 GW of power around the world.
