published: 2012-10-26 15:14

Trina Solar Limited (NYSE: TSL) ("Trina Solar" or the "Company"), a leading integrated manufacturer of solar photovoltaic (PV) products, has announced that it has obtained Carbon Footprint Verification (the "Verification") for the Company's solar PV modules from the British Standards Institution (BSI), a leading international standards and certification body.

In accordance with PAS 2050:2011 and ISO 14067 (DIS) 2012-1-6, BSI verified the greenhouse gas emissions during the life cycle of the Company's monocrystalline and multicrystalline solar PV modules. The Verification involves assessing the carbon footprint at various stages of the product life cycle, such as the acquisition of raw materials, process activities phase and packaging. It provides dependable evidence of the environmental benefits of Trina Solar's products. In quantifying the amount of CO2 emitted during the life cycle of the Company's modules, the findings suggest a relatively short carbon payback time, given reasonable assumptions on the carbon offset potentials of the modules during their usage period.

"This verification demonstrates Trina Solar's active commitment to sustainable development and a low carbon economy," said Mr. Jifan Gao, CEO and Chairman of Trina Solar. "We strive to continuously reduce the carbon footprint of our manufacturing and commercial operations through technological innovation and efficiency enhancements."

"We are pleased to have supported Trina Solar in their product carbon footprint verification," said Dr. Yi Min Gao, Managing Director of BSI China. "As a pioneer in the solar industry, Trina Solar continues to display its dedication to corporate social responsibility and environmental protection. BSI looks forward to continuing to work with Trina Solar to raise awareness of environmental protection."
