S.A.G. Solarstrom AG: 44 MWp in the UK Completed on Schedule in Q1

published: 2013-04-08 14:17

S.A.G. Solarstrom AG(German security identification number: 702 100, ISIN: DE0007021008) has completed three ground-mounted projects on schedule by March 31, 2013 in the UK. Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) have been concluded for all the systems. The largest system, with a total of 33 MWp, has been installed in Wymeswold, Leicestershire, on a former Royal Air Force base. Two other ground-mounted systems, each with over 5 MWp, have been constructed in the south-west of England. With punctual completion at the end of the first quarter, S.A.G. Solarstrom AG proves its competence in the construction of photovoltaic projects with power plant dimensions.

“The parallel implementation of projects of this size requires outstanding planning and sophisticated logistics. Due to the key date regulation at the end of March, we were also under time pressure. We nevertheless succeeded in completing all projects on schedule. This was only possible thanks to our excellently trained and very committed team, which was supported by local resources”, says Dr. Karl Kuhlmann, CEO of S.A.G. Solarstrom AG.

33 MWp ground-mounted system in Wymeswold

A ground-mounted system with a total output of 33 MWp has been constructed within three months on the former Royal Air Force base in Wymeswold, Leicestershire, approximately 190 km north-west of London, after  careful preliminary planning. The photovoltaic power plant can produce around 30,650 MWh of electricity annually and thus the equivalent of the electricity required to supply over 8,000 four-person households. High-quality components, including polycrystalline modules from Trina Solar and inverters from LTi REEnergy, have been used to ensure the long-term electricity yield for the entire project lifetime.

Two other systems, each with over 5 MWp have been completed in south-west England. Each of the two systems can generate around 5,300 MWh annually and thus the equivalent of the electricity required to supply 1,500 four-person households. S.A.G. Solarstrom AG has also used high-quality components in both these systems, in order to ensure long-term, reliable power production. S.A.G. Solarstrom AG will also be responsible for the technical management of all three systems.

“Even after the amendment to the ROC assessment basis, the UK still offers very good conditions for implementing further projects in 2013, which we already have in the planning phase”, says Dr. Karl Kuhlmann, CEO of S.A.G. Solarstrom AG.
