Standard Energy Solutions Awarded DC Solar United Neighborhoods Ward 1 Solar Bulk Purchase Agreement

published: 2013-09-26 9:51

Standard Energy Solutions (SES), a Standard Solar company, has been selected by participants of the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood solar bulk purchase organized by DC Solar United Neighborhoods (DC SUN), a coalition of neighborhood solar coops. SES has been selected to provide solar energy to more than 30 Mt. Pleasant residences. Through a bulk purchase agreement, the result of a highly competitive request for proposal (RFP) process managed by DC SUN, a group of neighbors in the Mt. Pleasant and Ward 1 neighborhoods have the opportunity to collectively go solar, reducing their overall energy costs while saving on their overall installation costs.

DC SUN worked with neighborhood representatives throughout the RFP process to negotiate the bulk purchase agreement. SES was selected as the solar partner by the bulk partner group based upon the company’s overall experience in solar and energy management and efficiency services as well as its extensive expertise in installing solar in the District.

“As a DC resident with deep involvement in the DC solar community, I am especially honored that SES has been selected to help make solar energy more accessible to more homeowners within the District. Bulk purchase groups are a cost-effective way to help neighborhoods and communities benefit from solar energy while taking advantage of economies of scale during the installation process. Having installed more than 2MW of solar capacity within DC, SES is the ideal partner for these projects,” said Tony Clifford, CEO of Standard Solar and Standard Energy Solutions.

According to DC resident and potential solar customer, Ane Powers, “I have wanted to install solar panels for some time, but was overwhelmed by the cost and complexity. The bulk purchase with Standard Energy Solutions and the support from DC SUN have made it affordable and accessible.”

The installations are expected to begin later this fall. The Ward 1 Group buy is still open for more people to join; the deadline for signing up is Tuesday, October 8th. Visit www.dcsun.org for more information.

SES is a BPI Accredited Contractor, ensuring its customers’ home energy efficiency solutions are installed to the highest standards and participates in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy’s Home Performance with Energy Star program. It also employs NABCEP certified engineers, installers and top electricians to ensure the quality of work for its solar installations.
