IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, has announced the sixth annual IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Innovative Smart Grid Technologies (ISGT) Conference, being held 17-20 February 2015 at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel, Washington, D.C. The overall theme for IEEE PES ISGT 2015 is “Smart Grid- Present and Future.”

With the specific theme, the conference will focus on the future migration path for the smart grid, as new and emerging technologies converge with power system developments to create smart energy systems.Early registration for ISGT 2015 at a discounted rate ends 31 January 2015. Details can be checked on the website: ieee-isgt.org

“ISGT differentiates itself from other conferences because it recruits practitioners from industry, government and national labs, who have actual experience in hardware, policy and deployment,” said Saifur Rahman, ISGT 2015 conference chair, IEEE Life Fellow. “Attendees go to the conference and attend panel sessions run by experts, who are working on various aspects of the smart grid as parts of their daily work. Practical, pragmatic aspects are discussed and this is valuable.”

Amy Ericson, president, Alstom US and Harold DePriest, president, Chattanooga Electric Power Board will give keynote addresses.

In addition, conference attendees will hear and see paper and panel presentations and can participate in discussions on the following topics and more:

  • Cybersecurity: Lessons learned from DOE projects
  • Trustworthiness of Smart Grids
  • Smart Distribution Applications
  • Changing Utility Landscape
  • Innovation Policy for the Grid
  • Vehicle-to-Grid
  • Enhancing Resiliency of Distribution Systems
  • Improving Reliability with Smart Grid Analytics
  • Smart Eco-Cities and Communities
