132MW Philippine PV Plant Utilizes Trina Solar’s Anti-PID Modules

published: 2016-03-23 14:42

The largest solar power plant in the Philippines, which has a capacity of 132.5MW and is located in Cadiz City of the Negros Occidental province, started operating since March 22. Trina Solar supplied 40MW of PID-free PV modules for the plant.

Cadiz City is located near the equator and the Project is situated approximately three kilometers from the coastline, where strong winds are common, high humidity and salty air prevail. The environmental conditions call for superior performance solar modules resistant to potential induced degradation (PID), salt spray corrosion and wind pressure, and Trina Solar's solar products are well equipped to meet the requirements.

“The Philippine solar industry has tremendous room for development, and the region's supportive policies towards renewable energy make it an attractive market for us,” said Helena Li, Assistant Vice President, Regional Head of APEC & Middle East Region at Trina Solar. “Looking ahead, we will continue to further expand our market share in the Philippines and other emerging markets in the region."

The plant was developed by Helios Solar Energy Corporation, a joint venture between local solar project developer Gregorio Araneta Inc (GAI) and Equis Pte Ltd. (Equis), an independent renewable energy developer and investor in Asia.
