Local Chinese media outlets have reported that Bidi New Energy will invest RMB 2.7 billion to set up a production base for ultra-high-efficiency HJT cells and modules in Qianyang County, an administrative subsection of the city of Baoji in Shaanxi Province. In terms of production capacity, the base is designed to output 2GW of HJT cells and 1GW of modules per year. The development agreement for this project was formally signed in a ceremony held at Qianyang Hitang Qianhu Resort Hotel. HJT is widely seen as the next mainstream cell technology following PERC, and numerous Chinese solar enterprises have been proactively building up their production capacity for HJT cells and developing related processing equipment.

Spanning an area of 328 mu, the production base will be sited in the county’s industrial park and developed over two phases. The first-phase construction, which will entail an investment of RMB 1.8 billion, will commence this December and take about a year to complete. The first phase will comprise a 1GW production line for HJT cells, a 1GW production line for modules, and the supporting manufacturing systems. The second-phase construction, which will entail an investment of RMB 900 million, will commence in June 2023 and also take about a year to complete. The second phase will comprise a 1GW production line for HJT cells and the supporting manufacturing systems.
