First Phase of Gotion’s New Battery Production Base in Tongcheng Enters Operation

published: 2022-08-10 9:30

The first phase of Gotion Hi-Tech’s new battery production base in Tongcheng formally entered operation on August 8. The base, which is owned by Gotion’s subsidiary Tongcheng Gotion New Energy, has a planned total production capacity of 40GWh per year for NEV power batteries. On that same day, construction started for the second phase of the base. Tongcheng is a county-level city in China’s Hefei Province. This story was first reported by other Chinese renewable news outlets.

Spanning an area of 1,800 mu, the Tongcheng base is the tenth in the series of large-scale battery production sites that are being operated or developed by Gotion. The construction of the Tongcheng base comprises three phases. The first phase has added 10GWh, the second phase will add 20GWh, and the third phase will add 10GWh. Once the production capacity of the entire base is activated, the resulting annual revenue is projected to reach at least RMB 40 billion. Products manufactured at the base will be mainly shipped to the US, India, and other foreign markets.

Gotion’s capacity expansion has dramatically accelerated this year as many of its major manufacturing projects have successively entered operation. On May 28 this year, it 20GWh smart battery production base in Nanjing (Jiangsu Province) was inaugurated. Shortly after that event, another 10GWh project in Yichun (Jiangxi Province) was formally completed on May 30. Later, on June 8, Gotion’s cathode material production site in Lujiang County (Anhui Province) was activated. The Lujiang site has 200,000 tons per year of production capacity for high-end cathode materials.
