On the morning of September 12 at 10 a.m., the groundbreaking ceremony for Tongwei New Energy’s Jintang 100MW/200MWh Independent Shared Energy Storage Power Station was successfully held in the Jintang Economic Development Zone (Chengdu–Anyue Industrial Park), Sichuan Province. As one of the province’s first new-type energy storage demonstration projects, it represents Tongwei New Energy’s active response to the call for advancing energy storage applications across multiple scenarios, and a key step toward enhancing the safety and stability of Sichuan’s energy system.
The Jintang Independent Shared Energy Storage Project marks a substantial milestone in Tongwei New Energy’s deepening cooperation with the Jintang County Government, following the signing of a “Source-Grid-Load-Storage Integration” demonstration project in February 2025. The project will adopt proven and reliable lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology to build a 100MW/200MWh shared energy storage facility, supported by a highly integrated and intelligent energy management system. Once completed, it will significantly strengthen the resilience of power supply for the Jintang Economic Development Zone and Chengdu–Anyue Industrial Park, alleviate regional peak load pressures, and enhance grid stability through peak shaving, renewable energy consumption, and emergency backup functions. The project will also directly serve Tongwei’s Jintang base and surrounding enterprises, helping them optimize energy use, reduce costs, and improve overall market competitiveness.
The launch of this project comes at a pivotal time, as China’s national strategy for new-type energy storage continues to advance. The recently released Special Action Plan for Large-Scale New-Type Energy Storage Construction (2025–2027) by the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration explicitly calls for expanded grid-side storage applications and the rational deployment of facilities at key grid nodes. Tongwei’s Jintang Independent Shared Energy Storage Project is a concrete response to this policy direction and closely aligned with the goals of building a new-type power system.
Backed by Jintang County’s favorable business environment and efficient government services, the project is progressing rapidly. Tongwei and Jintang County have built a solid foundation of trust through years of cooperation, and both sides will continue to jointly advance green energy projects, contributing to the establishment of a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system in Sichuan.
