On June 22, the Chuzhou Ecology and Environment Bureau published the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) acceptance notice for Trina Storage’s 36GWh energy storage lithium battery and R&D center project.

Located in the Chuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, the project is being developed by Trina Storage (Chuzhou) Co., Ltd. With a planned total investment of 7.2 billion yuan, the project involves the construction of a new 36GWh annual capacity energy storage lithium battery plant and an energy storage R&D center. Upon completion, it will establish an annual production capacity of 36GWh for mass-produced energy storage lithium battery cells, 1GWh for pilot-scale battery cells (housed within the R&D center), as well as supporting PACK modules and energy storage systems.

This project represents a further expansion of production capacity built upon the company's existing foundation. Currently, Trina Storage has already completed an annual capacity of 12GWh for its energy storage battery project in Chuzhou, possessing 12GWh of energy storage battery capacity that encompasses battery cells, PACK modules, and system integration.

The company stated that the capacity of the battery cells produced by the new production lines is significantly higher than that of its existing products, aiming to precisely address the market gap for large-capacity energy storage cells.

It is understood that the project was included in Anhui Province's 2026 Key Project List in March 2026. Once construction is fully completed, the planned energy storage battery capacity of Trina Storage's Chuzhou base will increase to 48GWh, further expanding the company's production scale in the energy storage cell sector.
