InfoWorld magazine has selected GE’s (NYSE: GE) Renewable Energy Connect (REconnect) customer portal for one of the magazine’s annual Green 15 information technology (IT) awards. The website underscores GE’s continued investment in improving the digital tools that are helping its customers to make intelligent strategic decisions, support peak performance and increase profitability of their assets.

”With this year’s batch of Green 15 winners, organizations of all sizes across an array of industries— from education to government to medical to energy—continue to demonstrate that sustainable IT practices are smart business IT practices,” said Ted Samson, senior analyst for InfoWorld. “Green IT projects not only yield significant environmental benefits that improve an organization’s environmental standing but they also can result in major cost savings, efficiency boosts and other rewards.”

Introduced in 2009, GE’s REconnect portal provides customers with timely information about wind turbine equipment, operations and options to improve wind farm profitability. The portal is being recognized as one of InfoWorld’s Green 15 award winners because it enables wind turbine owners and operators to maximize clean energy production by making more strategic decisions about their fleet. REconnect provides innovative tools that allow users to easily explore product and service offerings, order parts, submit claims and monitor fleet performance.

“REconnect’s robust and innovative functionality helps owners and operators plan and manage their wind energy assets in a highly efficient manner, which helps to maximize their production and delivery of cleaner energy around the world,” said Diarmaid Mulholland, general manager for GE’s wind services business.
